Sauna and Massage: Why They Go So Well Together

01/19/17
Relaxing in a private sauna before a massage at Fire and Ice Spa

Many of our guests book a private sauna and a massage on the same visit. Here is why the pairing is so popular and how to plan it.

Warm muscles feel easier to work on

After time in the heat, most people feel looser and more relaxed. That makes it easier to settle into a massage and enjoy it.

Which comes first?

Most guests prefer sauna first, massage second: warm up, cool down, drink some water, then lie down for the massage. If you would rather relax in the heat afterward, that works too. Tell us what you prefer when you book.

How long to plan

  • Quick reset: 1 hour of sauna + 30-minute massage
  • Full evening: 2–3 hours of sauna with friends + 60-minute massage

All massage types

Swedish, deep tissue, sports, Thai, reflexology and more. Sessions are $60 for 30 minutes and $80 for 60 minutes. See the massage page for details.
